For instance,  in a military organization, discipline is the primary factor in ensuring cooperation and productivity, which would naturally instill a certain code of conduct.  

Developing certain habits helps you be pragmatic and committed to a routine or task; hence you can work towards achieving specific goals and obtaining desired results.  Let's discuss some of these military habits you can apply to  improve your life and attain maximum results:

1. Wake up Early

The habit of waking up early is strictly adhered to in the armed forces/military. It is the determining factor for having a productive day. 

As an individual, adopting the habit of waking up early can help you improve your organizational skills.

  • Set an alarm that helps you to wake up on time

2.  Always Pre-Plan Your Day

Sometimes you can be overwhelmed with activities that you may not be able to keep track of your achievements.  Developing the habit of planning your day helps in time management practice and proper documentation of results or tasks.

  • Make a list of your plans every day, either at night or when you wake up.
  • Plan according to priorities and deadlines.

4. Learn the Art of Mindfulness 

In the military, the act of mindfulness is the ability to be in control and pay attention at every moment. Despite the stress or how challenging it may be, they're expected to live in the moment.

This helps them to increase their performance at every task given. This can be incorporated into your daily activities.

5. Eat Healthily

In the military, everyone is expected to observe a three days low calories diet for as low as 1,400, 1,100, and 1200 calories intake. The remaining four days in the week are for a regular diet. 

This diet requires a high level of protein and should be low in carbohydrates or fat. They also have selected meal combinations to help increase metabolism with water as a priority. This can be applied to your civilian lifestyle.

  • Prepare a healthy food diet plan 
  • Reduce the intake of calories, sugar and saturated food

6. Be Willing to Learn New Things

Another habit to actively adopt is the willingness to learn new things. Whether in your field or not, continuous learning will distinguish you from competitors, set you as the right candidate for a job, etc.

  • Utilize and leverage the internet for active learning
  • Look out for challenges and find ways to overcome them.
  • Ask questions when you don't understand.

7. Incorporate TeamWork

Developing the habits to work with others can foster team spirit, breed mutual trust, and produce an excellent result for a team or organization.

  • Be willing to welcome team members' ideas or suggestions.

  • Clearly state the roles and responsibilities of every team member.

Everyone is treated with consent and mutual respect from the highest to the lowest rank. As a civilian practizing, this act can be rewarding.

  • Be kind and polite in your conversations no matter the age differences in rank or status.
  • Offer help to people as much as it lies in your power.

9. Maintain a Healthy/Positive  Environment

Cultivating the habit of maintaining a healthy environment can improve your productivity. A healthy environment can mean keeping your surroundings clean; it can also mean eliminating every form of negativity, either from people or colleges.

  • Listen to inspiring messages, podcasts, or motivations.
  • Learn the art of affirmation and positive confessions.
  • Keep your environment clean, and recycle waste products.

10. Learn to be optimistic /Disciplined

Being positive when engaging in a task routine or long-term goals will help keep you on track.  Even when mistakes are made,  it's not an excuse to remain down. Discipline will also help you to stay focused. 

  • Give yourself credits for every accomplishment or completed task.
  • Think of future events that are most likely to happen.
  • Develop the habits to be realistic when planning long term of short term
  • Remember, today is always another day to smash those goals.
